I played the whole game without skipping a mini game and I was never able to earn an extra skip.įor the mini games it's important to look at the small video that is on the lower left hand corner. You have the ability to skip 2 mini games throughout the whole game so make sure to only skip only the ones that are hardest for you. You need to complete the mini games in order to advance in the game. There are a lot of mini games in between levels, most of them different. Some games have 2 or more steps needed in order to complete the game, sometimes as many as 10 steps. The small round blue lights on the right of the screen will tell you how close you are to completing a level. In addition to that each mini game may have 2 or more games that need to be solved before you can move on. In this amount of time you have to solve the room puzzle and either one or two mini games within the time allotted. You start off each chapter with a certain amount of time to complete the chapter. To take an item over to inventory, you can either drag it there or click it twice to send it automatically. Once you've found all the items, the blacked out shapes will disappear. These shapes represent the items you need to look for in the room, those are also considered your inventoried items. A good example of this is when you are placing the batteries in the remote, you have to pick up the batteries first and then the remote, not the other way around.Īt the beginning of every level, look at the top right side of the screen and you will see blacked out shapes. It is important when reading the walkthrough that you do certain things in the order that is described or it will not work. You will see a glimmer appear when you are close to an object that you need to either pick up or open up.Īt times you have to use one item in conjunction with another in order for the clue to work (like placing batteries inside the remote control). You will have to search different rooms for hidden clues, combine items in order to make them work and play various mini games in between. In this game you have to find clues that will unlock each mystery.

I never use the "Skip puzzle" option, but as I kept running out of time, I ended up skipping a puzzle I had previously succeeded, to get more time for the next one.Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare Tips & TricksĬheck out our tips and tricks for Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare, including screenshots with visual solutions to select puzzles. I suspect the game is a lot more enjoyable if the intro is skipped altogether.Īnd the final nail in the coffin: the endgame is pretty tough. but the game intro shows us a bunch of stuff, which means that we end up knowing MORE stuff than the very character we're playing, and have to suffer through her putting the pieces back together. One big issue I had with the game is that the main character is amnesiac (a popular plot device). Afterwards, you have to solve a couple traditional puzzles, before accessing the next scene. Those items are then re-used inside the room itself, making each scene a mini-adventure-game.

Gameplay-wise, the game hops through scenes I like to call "adventurettes": a single room you can look at, hunt for "hot spots", and retrieve some specific items that are shown on the side. Not enough secrets, too many nightmares Since I'm more an adventure game fan than a pure HO fan, this game was well-positioned to win my heart. There were a few Chapters I needed to replay and a few with just seconds left and I haven't played a good game like this one in a very long time! Gameplay is not for relaxation into la-la-land-you have to be qucik and, sometimes, replay chapters if timer runs out. There are puzzle skip options, however, they are limited, otherwise, the game would be nil and any puzzle can be replayed if skipped or competed-a thoughtful added game bonus! Game is timed where you have to work the scene qucikly with a few interactive objects and then complete puzzles to advance to next Chapter. On my feet often times, magnifying glass in one hand and pen and paper in the other. Game would have been even more awesome had the scenes been brighter and the objects larger, however, storyline was intriguing and puzzles pressed me to go forward-solve, solve, solve! Scenes were dark because this young lady is in a coma, and the atmosphere was set accordingly. This game is defintely more an adventure with a few interactive objects- and certainly NOT A HOG. Like a good book, I couldn't stop and played straight through. It all started with BFG weekend sale and reading such varied reviews so I tried this little gem of a game-just the demo to see for myself. From Demo To All Day Play! Intriguing! Had to Solve! Is anyone else weary of reading negative reviews just because a game isn't a HOG and lacks the predictable HOG bells and whistles rather than a hearty game challenge?
